Empty Bowls is an annual Dixon event that supports The Milwaukee Rescue Mission Meal Program through donations from the Dixon school community. Each Dixon student and staff member has decorated a ceramic bowl with the perspective that some families and children in our community are not able to fill their own bowls with the food they need. In addition when families attend this event they walk into a school that has been decorated from hallway to hallway with themed artwork by every child in the school. As families wander the halls finding and sharing their artwork, families can stop in the LMC for activities sponsored by our math and literacy partners and clubs. After getting a sweet treat to eat, donated by our community sponsors: The Chocolate Factory, Pete's Pops, Marquette Dining and Fresh Thyme, families pick up their bowls and hopefully make a donation to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. A fun highlight of the charity part of the event is also the ability for community members to bid on staff bowls silent auction style! Last year the Dixon Community raised $3,847 at this event.
