Jen

Brookfield Central Class of 1990

Jen Beug-Hoffman, Office Manager at Swanson Elementary School, is a proud graduate of Brookfield Central’s Class of 1990. A longtime member of the Elmbrook community, she attended Brookfield Elementary and Elmbrook Middle School (then located at Pilgrim Park) before graduating from Central.

After high school, Jen earned her degree in Psychology and Sociology from UW-Whitewater in 1994. In college, she was involved in a social activism club, participating in letter writing to senators. Reflecting on her Elmbrook education, she most appreciates the rigor that prepared her for the challenges of college coursework.

Jen began her professional career as a temporary data entry employee at MagneTek and advanced within the company, working as customer service manager and earning an award that included corporate recognition in Nashville. After moves to California and Colorado, then returning to Brookfield, she worked for a small manufacturing company, again starting as a temp and quickly transitioning into customer service with sales and marketing responsibilities. When preparing to welcome her first child with her husband, she chose to stay home with her children.

Jen and her family returned to Brookfield as their children reached school age. As a parent, she valued the wide range of extracurricular opportunities available - not just athletics, but also academic programs such as robotics, where her daughter served as captain of the BEAST robotics team, helping lead the team to the finals at Worlds in 2022.

When her youngest child was in elementary school, Jen began working at Swanson as a playground paraprofessional. That role expanded into lead para, and several years ago she stepped into the Office Manager position.

Today, Jen especially values the opportunity to be creative and develop new initiatives. She launched a New Family Welcome Night to better support Swanson’s many new families, including those relocating from overseas and across the country. She also serves as advisor for the Monday Morning Mindfulness Club, which she has led for approximately 12 years.

Each morning, Jen greets students at the front door, checking in with those who may need a little extra encouragement. These daily connections are among the most meaningful parts of her work.

Outside of school, Jen and her family volunteer every Thanksgiving and Easter at Just One More Ministry, helping distribute food that might otherwise go to waste to individuals and families in need. She and her husband enjoy attending concerts, trying new restaurants, cheering on their son’s baseball team, practicing yoga, reading, cooking, and taking different classes.

From Brookfield student to Elmbrook parent to Swanson leader, Jen Beug-Hoffman continues to make a meaningful impact through creativity, connection, and service to her school community.
