Brookfield East Principal Andy Farley has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive the 2023 Terrel H. Bell Award for Outstanding School Leadership! This award recognizes outstanding school leaders and the vital role they play in guiding students and schools to excellence while overcoming challenges along the way. The principals that receive this award are “committed to fostering successful, high-standard teaching and learning at their schools, and are dedicated to education as both a powerful and liberating force in people’s lives”.

“This distinguished award shines a much-deserved spotlight on Andy’s commitment to all students at Brookfield East,” reflected Dr. Tanya Fredrich, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning. “His leadership has shown that empathy and humanity tied with strong continuous improvement and high academic expectations can wield immense results.”

This prestigious award will be presented to Mr. Farley at the National Blue Ribbon Schools ceremony on Thursday, November 16, and Farley is one of only nine administrators from across the country to receive this award this year. The award is presented by the U.S. Department of Education in association with the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the Association of Middle-Level Education, and the National Association of Secondary School Principals, in memory of former U.S. Secretary of Education Terrel H. Bell.

Principal Farley received the Wisconsin Secondary Principal of the Year award from the Wisconsin School Administrators organization in April, qualifying him for consideration of the National Award of which he was recently named a Finalist. Additionally, Brookfield East was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in September, which qualified Farley for the Bell Award. Congratulations yet again, Mr. Farley!
