Brookfield Central High School is proud to announce that BCHS student Kartik Ramachandrula has been named one of the top 300 scholars in the 2025 Regeneron Science Talent Search.  This competition is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious program recognizing high school seniors for exceptional achievements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Kartik earned this distinction through his hard work, dedication, perseverance, and groundbreaking research, placing him among an elite group selected from nearly 2,500 entrants representing 795 high schools across 48 states, American Samoa, Guam, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and 14 other countries. As a top 300 scholar, Kartik will receive a $2,000 award, with an additional $2,000 granted to Brookfield Central High School to support our physics classrooms.

The scholars were chosen for their dedication to academic excellence and their ability to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and innovation in STEM fields. Selection criteria included their original and independent research projects, essays, recommendations, and a commitment to community involvement. Kartik's achievement highlights his outstanding potential as a future leader in science and mathematics, bringing pride to both BCHS and the broader community.

Kartik’s project was titled “Toward Explaining the DAMA/LIBRA Dark Matter Signal via Groundwater Fluctuations”. He collaborated with his mentors at the MIT Laboratory of Nuclear Science, who advised his project and provided valuable resources. Additionally, BC Physics teacher John Wilkinson was recognized as a Teacher of Merit for his support and encouragement of Kartik in physics.
