The WIAA Division 1 Girls Swim & Dive State Championship was held on Saturday, November 15 in Waukesha. Brookfield East’s Caroline Wanezek, a four-time qualifier in the 100 Yard Butterfly, broke through this year and won the event championship! Additionally, she placed third in the 200 Individual Medley, and led her team to a 10th place finish. Caroline recently signed to swim next season at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, continuing the Wanezek legacy of her sisters Abby and Maggie.

Other state podium finishes came from the 200 Yard Medley Relay of Payton Keezer (Senior), Fiona Dold (Junior), Caroline Wanezek and Sadie Podoll (Senior), and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay of Caroline Wanezek, Payton Keezer, Elise Miller (Junior) and Maeve Green - both finishing 6th.

Brookfield East’s team finished 8th overall in Division 1. Congratulations to all of Brookfield East’s state-qualifying swimmers on your great season, and to Coaches Mike Rose (Head), Carol Rose (Dive) and Anne Leupold (Assistant)!
