Typically, the Board of Education approves school-year calendars in two-year cycles so that families and staff can plan travel and absences far in advance. Designed to meet state requirements for instructional hours, the calendar also forecasts non-school days designated for staff professional development, winter and spring breaks, and ensures some flexibility for inclement weather days.

The 2023-2024 school year calendar was approved by the Board of Education in the spring of 2022. However, in response to employee and parent feedback expressing school safety concerns on election days, the Board of Education voted on 3/21 to make two changes to the calendar in order to avoid having school on key election days next year.

The District’s Calendar Committee, comprised of staff, administrators, and community members, had the following changes approved:

  1. February 12, 2024 professional development day became an instructional day (school will occur)
  2. February 20, 2024 (election day) instructional day became a professional development day (no school)
  3. April 2, 2024 (election day) instructional day became a professional development day (no school)
  4. April 10, 2024 professional development day became an instructional day (school will occur)

The Board-approved, school year calendars can be accessed on the District’s website.
