Dr. Mark Hansen officially received the 2024 Wisconsin Superintendent of the Year Award on Wednesday, January 17 at the State Education Convention held in Milwaukee by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB). As part of his award, Dr. Hansen gave the keynote luncheon presentation on Thursday to hundreds of attendees from across the state, including colleagues, friends, and family.

After more than 30 years in education, Dr. Hansen continues to inspire innovative change and prioritizes personal connections with students and staff. The award recognizes his leadership in student literacy, robust college and career learning, community engagement, and combating rising healthcare costs in order to maximize dollars spent on teaching and learning. His vision to expand college and career learning led to the creation of the LAUNCH program in 2016 and his relentless pursuit of providing the right care, at the right time, at the right cost for Elmbrook staff has increased the quality of healthcare while controlling expenses. Most recently, Elmbrook served as a model district for science-based reading instruction for legislators and surrounding districts as they considered a statewide deployment.

Dr. Hansen constantly strives to live his mantra “every student, every time, all the time” through a relentless focus on students and staff across the District. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Dr. Hansen!
