The Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association (WEMTA) recently hosted the statewide Battle of the Books competition, in which three Elmbrook elementary schools placed in the top 20 out of over 220 Wisconsin schools! Tonawanda Elementary (coached by Briana Sokolowski) took fourth place with 355 points, only 20 points shy of the first place team. Dixon Elementary (coached by Christina Welch and Kristin Parulski) tied for 13th place with 315 points, and Swanson Elementary (coached by Robyn Rubenstein) tied for 19th with a total score of 300.
Schools within the top 20 spots are given the distinction of being named to the Honors Club. The statewide Battle of the Books program is designed to promote a love of reading among students by encouraging them to read a variety of books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books. Congratulations to all the student readers on your great work in the competition!
