This week, Elmbrook Schools proudly recognized seven outstanding educators who recently earned National Board Certification, the highest credential an educator can achieve. These distinguished educators include:
- Kayla Moffatt, Burleigh Elementary, Generalist/Early Childhood
- Erin Thomson, Burleigh Elementary, Generalist/Early Childhood
- Molly Kaminsky, Dixon Elementary, Generalist/Early Childhood
- Christopher Swenson, Dixon Elementary, Music/Early and Middle Childhood
- Elizabeth (Betsy) Vander Heiden, Dixon Elementary, English as a New Language/Early and Middle Childhood
- Laura Price, Brookfield East High School, Science/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
- Isaiah Tyree, Brookfield East High School, Social Studies-History/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
The National Board Certification process is known as one of the most rigorous and esteemed professional achievements in education. It is a performance-based, peer-reviewed process that requires candidates to demonstrate their deep impact on student learning through extensive reflection, video documentation, and written submissions. The 2023 State Ranking by Percentage of National Board Certified Teachers in Wisconsin is 2.71%, a testament to the commitment and dedication of educators across the state.
With the addition of these accomplished professionals, Elmbrook Schools now boasts a total of 23 Nationally Board Certified educators. These teachers were honored for their exceptional achievement at the Board of Education Meeting on March 18th.
