Elmbrook Schools was thrilled to continue its author visit series with an incredible lineup of writers that inspired students across the district this October.

The month will feature visits from five acclaimed authors whose stories spark imagination, curiosity, and creativity in readers of all ages. Katherine Rundell, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Impossible Creatures, returned to Pilgrim Park to celebrate her new novel The Poisoned King. Beloved Questioneers author Andrea Beaty shared her newest book, Billie Jean Peet, Athlete, at Brookfield Elementary, continuing her mission to inspire through stories of STEM, art, and perseverance.

Lynne Kelly, known for her heartfelt tales exploring human-animal connections, visited Swanson to promote Three Blue Hearts, while Jennifer Nielsen, the bestselling author of A Night Divided and Resistance, brought her new historical adventure The Free State of Jax to Elmbrook’s middle-grade readers at Wisconsin Hills. Rounding out the month, Scottish author Struan Murray introduced students to his latest fantasy, Dragonborn, in an event that ignited the imaginations of Dixon’s Dragons!

Through these events, students are able to hear from the authors firsthand and ask questions about the creative process and inspiration, in addition to opportunities to meet the authors during book signings. These visits are made possible through Elmbrook’s valued partnership with Boswell Book Company and offer students the opportunity to discover the power of literacy and inspire them to write their own stories.

“Elmbrook’s author visits bring books to life for our students,” shared Kay Koepsel-Benning, Elmbrook Director of Library Services. “When students meet the creators behind their favorite stories, it deepens their love of reading and inspires them to dream big.”

Through these engaging events, Elmbrook Schools continues its proud tradition of fostering literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning - one story at a time.
