Elmbrook Schools’ innovative LAUNCH program has been honored as a 2025 Program of Excellence at the Wisconsin Career Readiness Summit put on by Wisconsin’s CESAs (Cooperative Educational Service Agencies). Selected from among the state’s most impactful initiatives, LAUNCH was recognized for its exceptional commitment to preparing students for success in both college and the workforce, as well as for the lasting positive impact it has made on the community.

The award was presented on Thursday, August 7, as part of the WI Career Readiness Summit in Wisconsin Dells, an event celebrating programs and educators who are setting the standard for career readiness across the state.

Founded in 2016, LAUNCH integrates the academic coursework of high school juniors and seniors with profession-based, project-driven learning experiences in partnership with local businesses. Students collaborate with industry professionals to solve real-world business problems while applying tools such as project management methodologies, programming languages, and B2B marketing strategies. Many participants simultaneously earn both high school and college credit.

Over the past nine years, the program has grown to offer 12 profession-aligned strands - including Data Science, Future Teachers, Engineering, Media Solutions, and Medicine & Healthcare - and now serves more than 400 students from the Elmbrook and Wauwatosa school districts. The program’s early immersion in authentic workplace challenges helps students explore career interests, refine professional skills, and build networks that extend beyond graduation.  In addition, the team has helped build a LAUNCH program in the School District of Monroe.

“Being named a Program of Excellence is a reflection of the incredible dedication of our students, educators, business, and community partners,” said Dr. Bob Hall, LAUNCH’s Executive Director. “Together, we are helping young people discover their passion, potential, while gaining real-world experience, and taking meaningful steps toward their future careers.”

Elmbrook’s recognition at the summit underscores the district’s ongoing commitment to creating transformative learning opportunities that connect classroom learning with the skills and experiences students need to thrive in the modern workforce.
