Nancy Rusk is often the first face that families see when entering Burleigh Elementary, and her work helps to make the office a welcoming and fun place for all! Nancy has been Burleigh’s Receptionist since 2017 and in her role, she aids in a variety of interactions throughout each school day with staff, students, and families. “I love working with people that inspire me every day,” reflected Rusk. “I see a lot of interactions between students and staff, and I’m continually impressed by the patience and level of care and concern shown to each student. It’s empowering to see our educators go above and beyond to educate and support students socially and emotionally in addition to academically!”

For Nancy, each day has a similar flow but her varying interactions with people are what she loves most. She’s inspired by her family which includes her husband and three daughters. “My husband’s ease of connecting with people inspires me,” she stated. “And my daughters are always trying new things, figuring out innovative solutions, and they work so hard.”

In 2023, she, along with her office team, were finalists for an Engaged in Excellence Award for their Service and Support! Though many people may know Nancy, they may not know that she has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and even jumped out of an airplane once!
