The effort was a true community collaboration. At Brookfield Central, the Key Club rallied students to contribute, resulting in a particularly large donation. Additionally, Cindi Gordon, a dedicated member of the food service team, hand-crocheted 30 beanie hats, several blankets, and prepared 30 personal hygiene "to-go packs" to support the cause.
Custodian Kim Zahn and her team played an essential role by gathering and rebagging donations from buildings across the District before loading them into a district truck for delivery. On December 6th, the donations were delivered to the Milwaukee Rescue Mission, where they will be distributed to those in need throughout the cold winter months.
Pastor Tom Griffey from the Rescue Mission shared heartfelt gratitude, noting how much these donations mean to the individuals and families they serve.
“This annual project highlights the incredible generosity and kindness of the Elmbrook community,” reflected organizer Jean Loepfe. “We are so grateful to all the staff, students, and families who contributed to this effort.”
The Purse Project continues to be a meaningful tradition for Elmbrook, bringing warmth, comfort, and hope to our Milwaukee neighbors during the winter season. Thank you to everyone who made this year’s drive a success!
