Liz Nelson

Pilgrim Park Associate Principal Liz Nelson has been named one of three finalists for the National Middle Level Assistant Principal of the Year Award from the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP)! Her Finalist status highlights her leadership in implementing a Behavior Management Team, establishing comprehensive professional development and engagement opportunities for staff, and facilitating 31 student clubs and activities. Nelson has served as Pilgrim Park’s Associate Principal since 2020, and her belief in continuous improvement guides all aspects of her work.

"Liz’s commitment to students is at the heart of everything she does, from creating engaging extracurricular opportunities to fostering a supportive learning environment,” reflected Dr. Mark Hansen, Superintendent. “Her recognition as a finalist for the National Middle Level Associate Principal of the Year reflects her dedication to putting students first and ensuring their success."

Nelson received the Wisconsin Associate Principal of the Year award from the Wisconsin School Administrators organization in November, qualifying her for consideration for the National Award. This is the first year that NASSP has expanded its awards to recognize both Middle and High School Associate Principals of the Year.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced at a gala in Washington D.C. on April 11. You can view Mrs. Nelson’s live reaction to her state award here and read more about the finalists here.

Congratulations, Mrs. Nelson!
