Pilgrim Park Middle School student Ojas Sahoo (6th grade) represented the State of Wisconsin at the 15th Dewain Barber National Tournament of Middle School Champions, held in Middleton, WI during July and August 2025. Sahoo competed against other top middle school champions from across the country in this prestigious event, and was awarded the Best Upset Prize for his performance in the sixth round of the tournament.

Ojas is no stranger to the national stage, he previously represented Wisconsin at the 4th Annual John D. Rockefeller III National Tournament of Elementary School State Champions in 2023, where he earned an impressive 2nd place finish in the U1400 Blitz Tournament.

In addition to his individual accomplishments, Ojas was also a member of the state championship chess team for Pilgrim Park Middle School, showcasing his skill and teamwork at both state and national levels. Congratulations to Ojas on his continued success in chess!
