The Wisconsin Athletic Club (WAC) Brookfield has been selected as the recipient of the District’s 2025 Excellence in a Community Partnership award! This prestigious honor will be presented during the annual Engaged in Excellence Awards celebration on Monday, May 5, at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center.

The WAC Brookfield is being recognized for its impactful partnership with the Elmbrook Transition Center, which provides transition services to 18–21 year old young adults. Through its generous collaboration, the WAC has created inclusive and meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact on both Elmbrook’s students and the staff of the Brookfield WAC.

Each week, the WAC Brookfield welcomes the Transition Center students into its facilities for group fitness classes including Zumba and yoga. “These classes provide an opportunity for movement, health, and wellness - which are critically important to our young adults,” stated Liz Stegemann, Elmbrook’s Director of Student Services. “In addition, the WAC Brookfield’s instructors go above and beyond, creating an energetic and welcoming environment.”

“We really enjoy working with the students from the Elmbrook Transition Center, said Sarah Edgeworth, WAC Brookfield’s Group Fitness Manager. “The WAC’s mission statement ‘We make a difference in people’s lives’ has been beautifully brought to life through this partnership, and the students enthusiasm and joy during class makes each experience a lot of fun!”
