Elmbrook Families,
On Tuesday, March 2, the District's Governance Team accepted the Medical Advisory Board's recommendation to shorten the close-contact quarantine option for students from ten days to the minimum, 7-day CDC guideline (return to school on Day 8), assuming the student is without symptoms for the duration of the quarantine and has a negative PCR COVID test taken on Day 6 or Day 7.
This recommendation will go into effect as of Wednesday, March 3, for any new close contact student exposures. The revised guidelines are in response to low school, community and regional disease spread, as well as the District's positive experience with 7-day quarantine expectations for staff over the past two months. High school students in spring sports should know that WIAA guidelines may be more restrictive than Elmbrook's return-to-school expectations.
Families continue to have the option to follow CDC's recommendation to quarantine your child for 14 days (return on Day 15), or follow the District's previous practice of a 10-day quarantine without symptoms (return on Day 11), both of which do not require a PCR test.
The Medical Advisory Board will continue to monitor the District's progress at keeping the disease in check, and regularly provides guidance and insight on how to safely resume more traditional school activities and events. Updates are provided each week in the Friday email blast to all families, and can also be found on the Medical Advisory webpage. The most current COVID disease data can be found on the District's COVID-19 Dashboard.
Take care and stay healthy,
