The School Start Time Committee Report was presented to the Board of Education on March 18, 2025. The Committee's recommendation for a two-tier busing model identified several key considerations (listed below) that needed additional research and follow-up. Chris Thompson presented an update to those recommendations and sought direction from the Board on next steps.

  • School Day Times
    • Forecast school start and end times to better understand the impact on high school and middle school co-curriculars (busing, absences)
  • Walk / No Transport Zones
    • Waukesha County Sheriff study of possible walk/no transport zones to reduce ridership and budget impact
  • Transportation Changes
    • Forecast the impact of a 2-tier busing model in terms of dollars and drivers
    • Model the impact to Private and Parochial School drop-off and pick-up times
  • After-School Care Needs
    • Explore options to address the impact of an early elementary dismissal (2:30pm) and the increased need for after-school child care or programming options
