As someone married to a teacher, I've had a front-row seat to this job for a long time. I know what late-night grading looks like. I know the Sunday evening dread that settles in around 4 p.m. I've watched a packed lunch get thrown together at 6:40 a.m. while simultaneously signing a permission slip and finding car keys. Educators pour themselves into their work in ways that most professions simply don't ask of people. And then June hits. Everything stops.
