On Saturday, February 29th, community professionals and district family members came together for the 3rd Annual Family University event at Pilgrim Park Middle School. The event included sessions from community professionals on topics for families supporting children ages 4-18.
Some popular topics from community providers included Food for Thought by Dr. Aruna Tummala and Growing Your Child’s Executive Functions: Enhancing Attention and Self Control in a Highly Stimulating Culture by Dr. Mazius. Additional highlights from the event included Samia Khan and Loren Lee from Guided Behavioral Health Services, who discussed how to build a student’s emotional vocabulary, and Helen Wamser from the Department of Justice, who shared some invaluable advice to parents about protecting children in a digital world.
“Parent Network and the School District of Elmbrook were excited to welcome 117 guests from the region to Family University,” said Amie Farley, Director of College, Career & Life Readiness. “The experience of those who attended was very positive and we are grateful for all of the presenters and volunteers who helped make the event a success.”
