Brookfield East Class of 1996

From Prom King to Principal, Andy Farley is proud to lead this alma mater's proud legacy forward for future generations.

Andy's family moved to Brookfield following his second grade year. He attended Burleigh Elementary for 3rd and 4th before transferring to Dixon for 5th and 6th grade prior to the school's renovation. Farley was enrolled in 7th and 8th grade at Elmbrook Middle School, which is currently Pilgrim Park, before advancing to Brookfield East High School.

While at East, Andy participated in both Spartan football and basketball, and he felt fortunate to be able to have had all the incredible influences that he had. He expressed appreciation for Mr. Mueller, Mr. Ritter, Mrs. Kossoris, Mr. Steiner, and Mrs. Martin and the impact they had on his academic and sports careers and beyond. "The district provided me with incredible opportunities to grow in numerous venues through my education and form my future career path," stated Farley. "I vividly remember that my fifth grade teacher, Mr. Strauss, first served as my inspiration to pursue a future in education. He taught Social Studies and had such a unique, engaging fashion of instruction that I wanted to emulate."

Farley graduated in 1996 and continued on to the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where he received his teaching degree in 2001. He later continued on to earn his administrative degree from Marian University in 2006.

Andy served as a teacher for 11 years in the fields of U.S. and World History, Psychology, and AP Psychology at both Waukesha North and Brookfield East High Schools, and later served as an administrator at Menomonee Falls High School.

In 2013, Andy became the proud principal of Brookfield East. He loves seeing students develop and grow in their character and passions throughout their journey at East. "I am humbled by the opportunity to serve BEHS and the Elmbrook community," said Farley. "I know first-hand the impact that an East education can have on a student and their future and I hope all students leave our school as their best self - having discovered their passions, goals, strengths, and future plans." He also has been fortunate to work with the Department of Instruction to help spread the impact of teacher leaders throughout the state of Wisconsin.

In 2016, Farley was a finalist for the Elmbrook Engaged in Excellence 'Excellence in Leadership' award. Today, Andy is married to educational leader and Brookfield Central Associate Principal, Amie Farley. Together they live in the Elmbrook community and enjoy spending time with their three children: Grady, Delanie, and Ailin.

Throughout September and October, the district will be featuring alumni stories of individuals who have given back to the district with their service and commitment.
