Jing GillBrookfield East Class of 1997

Dr. Jing Gill is a Spartan graduate and one of the leading dermatologists in the Atlanta area.

Jing came to Brookfield from Beijing, China at the age of 10 without knowing any English. "I remember barely getting over jetlag before attending Burleigh Elementary School as a fourth-grader," reflected Gill. She recognized her English Language teacher, Mary Maloney, who made a huge impact on her with kind and patient teaching that allowed her to become almost fluent in the language by the end of her first year.

Following Burleigh, Jing attended Elmbrook Middle School and Brookfield East. "My Elmbrook education instilled a strong work ethic in me," said Jing. "I was given amazing opportunities through my education to try different things and explore the creative world around me through music, art and photography."  During her years at Brookfield East, she was active in National Honor Society, Choir, the school's musical productions, and as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Jing graduated from East in 1997 and continued to Marquette University where she was active in her church, numerous honor societies, and in volunteering at Froedtert and Elmbrook hospitals. "My father was an engineering professor at Marquette and my mother worked in a hospital laboratory," she reflected, "so I majored in Biomedical Engineering as a way to appease both my parents. While attending medical school I fell in love with the field of dermatology."

Gill graduated from Marquette in 2001 and continued her education at Yale's School of Medicine, St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, and the University of Washington in Seattle where she completed her Dermatology residency in 2009. After completing her residency, she went on to obtain a Procedural Dermatology and Mohs Surgery Fellowship at UC-San Francisco in 2011. "I genuinely love my field, getting to spend time with my patients, and listening to the stories they tell me."

Today, Jing works as a Mohs surgeon at North Georgia Dermatology in Lawrenceville, GA where she performs over 1,000 skin cancer surgeries and reconstructions per year. She was named a "Top Doctor" by Atlanta Magazine in both 2017 and 2018. She has gone on medical missions trips to China and hopes to continue to help those in need through more missions work in the future. Jing lives in a suburb of Atlanta with her husband and two children and enjoys painting in her free time.
