On Monday, August 24, internationally-renowned educator and best-selling author, Dr. Michele Borba spoke to families and staff across the Elmbrook community through a virtual event. Her presentation "Unselfie" focused on raising caring and successful children in the current plugged-in, uncertain, and socially-distant world. Borba discussed how teaching children the importance of self-regulation and empathy habits helps set them up for success.

"Michele's message is so important for our parents and staff to hear in today's ever-evolving social climate. She reiterated the research substantiating the profoundly positive impact of family reading on social emotional health," said Kay Koepsel-Benning, Director of Library Services. "We are very grateful to have had this opportunity to host Dr. Borba on behalf of our students and families."

The event was hosted by Elmbrook Schools in partnership with the Elmbrook Parent Network and Boswell Book Company.
