On Wednesday, October 23, author/illustrator Andy Rash visited Burleigh Elementary School to speak with over 600 students in preschool through third grade.
His visit was in promotion of his new picture book, The Happy Book, which was released in February. During his presentation, Rash talked about the inspiration for his stories, read The Happy Book to students, and drew student-suggested cartoons on-the-spot. Rash later answered questions from students and signed copies of his books for them in the library.
Rash is the author and illustrator of several children's picture books, has worked on animation for Nickelodeon, and his editorial illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, The New Yorker, and more.
This visit was sponsored by Elmbrook's community partner, Boswell Books. This school year, numerous award-winning authors are scheduled to visit the district as a continuation of our joint initiative to engage students in reading and writing. Click here to see more upcoming author visits.
