On Friday, March 15, best-selling author Andrew Clements spoke to over 1,600 students from all Elmbrook elementary schools, visiting Swanson, Brookfield Elementary, and Burleigh. Clements’ novel No Talking was this year’s selection for the all-elementary District read.
Clements is the author of more than 90 books for young readers and has sold millions of copies. During his presentations, he discussed the importance of setting aside time to think and write and read, his journey to becoming an author, and the role books and travel played in his childhood. After each presentation, Clements answered student questions and signed copies of his latest novels. His visit was a special trip to celebrate Elmbrook’s district read and was not part of a book tour.
This author visit was sponsored by Elmbrook’s community partner, Boswell Books. This school year, numerous award-winning authors are scheduled to visit the district as a continuation of our joint initiative to engage students in reading and writing. Click here to learn more.
