Students at Brookfield Central High School raised $1,200 for the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin this past April. Change for Autism bottles were set up in classrooms throughout BCHS to collect donations of spare change from students and staff.
The fundraiser, led by student Lila Nelson, partnered with the BC Best Buddies Club to collect the classroom change each Monday during Lancer Link periods. The fundraiser promoted an understanding of autism and how the Society works to benefit people with autism.
"There were 71 donation bottles throughout Brookfield Central and the contributions from students and staff were amazing," said Lila. "April was Autism Awareness month and it was important to be able to spread awareness and understanding of autism."
