Brookfield Central Senior, Caitlin Locante, was named one of 32 statewide Scholar Athletes by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) and Marshfield Clinic.
Locante is a three-sport athlete, participating in Swimming and Diving in the fall, Gymnastics in the winter, and Track and Field in the spring. Earlier this year, Locante set a new state record and was named state champion for her gymnastics floor exercise routine. This year, an all-time record 842 seniors from more than 429 Wisconsin high schools were nominated, and Caitlin's finalist standing is a testament to her excellence displayed in the classroom and as an athlete.
"Caitlin will go down as one of the greatest student athletes to ever walk the halls of Brookfield Central," said BCHS Principal Brett Gruetzmacher. "I am proud to be her principal and I'm very grateful for everything that she has done for BC."
Locante was honored at a ceremony in Wausau on May 7th where she received her award, joined by her parents and coaches, Erin Kokta (Gymnastics) and Carol Rose (Swimming and Diving), and Principal Brett Gruetzmacher. Next year, Locante will be diving for Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, on an athletic scholarship.
