As a district, we strive to engage students in high-quality learning that prepares them for life, college and career. Helping our students understand themselves - their gifts and talents, interests and passions - so that they can be equipped to make informed decisions about the courses they take in middle and high school to the post-secondary options that may be most rewarding and meaningful. Academic and Career Planning is one of the most essential systems we are developing.

A layer of support around students includes building career awareness. Our high schools are hosting career speakers during our weekly enrichment period. The period occurs weekly from 9:30-10:00 am and typically students select a subject area they would like to focus on during this time. This enrichment block is called Lancer block at Brookfield Central and Excellence Period at Brookfield East. We are seeking the support of all parents to speak to students about their own career fields. Students, grades 9-12, will have the opportunity to sign up to see a career speaker as an option. It is a small group opportunity to learn a bit about a particular career. We are looking for parents to provide a wide array of options in careers, requiring all different levels of education and training.

Additionally, we are in the planning process for career fairs at our middle schools and high schools. We need your support and expertise! Please consider donating your time today.
