On Monday, May 14, athletes from across southeastern Wisconsin were honored at the second annual Milwaukee Journal Sentinel High School Sports Awards. High school students from across the district were nominated for various awards in their respective sports.

Three Brookfield Central athletes were recognized with awards including; Lexi Romero as Female Athlete of the Year, Jenny Cape as the Comeback Award recipient, and Brandi Thomsen as Female Soccer Player of the Year!

In addition to the above award winners, the following student-athletes were finalist nominees from Brookfield Central: Jack Anderson (Boys Golf), Emily Balding (Girls Golf), Jenny Cape (Girls Soccer), Gwen Gustafson (Girls Swimming), Sarah Knopp (Girls Soccer), Ryan Linnihan (Boys Swimming), Lexi Romero (Gymnastics), and Miranda Wucherer (Girls Volleyball).

Finalist nominees from Brookfield East: Danny Butler (I Am Sport Award), Patrick Cartier (Boys Basketball), Lexi Penney (Gymnastics), and Joseph Rux (Coach of the Year).

The program was hosted by WTMJ radio host and 1994 BCHS alum, Greg Matzek.
