On August 22, Brookfield Central ('18) graduate Lexi Romero was named High School Athlete of the Year at the Wisconsin Sports Awards. The nationally-televised awards ceremony was held at the new Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee and recognized professional, collegiate, and high school athletes and coaches from across the state.
"Lexi is an incredibly dedicated athlete and has had a phenomenal four years in Elmbrook," said Brookfield Gymnastics Coach, Erin Kokta. "She has been a joy to coach. We are very proud of her and wish her the best in her college career."
She was presented the award by Green Bay Packer, Geronimo Allison, for her achievements in Gymnastics, Golf, and Track & Field. Romero has also received recognition this year as a WIAA Scholar Athlete Finalist, WIAA Floor State Champion, WIAA 100m Dash Runner-Up, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Female Athlete of the Year. This fall, Lexi will attend the University of Minnesota on a track and academic scholarship.
