2018 Brookfield Central graduate, Sophia Sun, has been named an AP (Advanced Placement) State Scholar for the state of Wisconsin. The College Board grants the State AP Scholar Award annually to the top male and female students in each of the 50 states and District of Columbia for their performance on AP exams. The two students were congratulated by State Superintendent and Governor-elect Tony Evers for their honors.
"Elmbrook is incredibly proud of Ms. Sun's achievements," stated Superintendent Mark Hansen. "The recognition that she continues to receive for her work is both admirable and very well-deserved."
Sun was previously named a 2018 Presidential Scholar on behalf of her academic achievements. She is attending Harvard University Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Sophia is the third Elmbrook student to receive the AP State Scholar Award in the past 7 years, including Rachel Soble (Brookfield Central, 2011) and Nikil Prasad (Brookfield Central, 2013). The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's release can be viewed here.
