The Corners of Brookfield, Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin - 2023

The Corners of Brookfield and Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin are the recipients of the District's 2023 Excellence in a Community Partnership award! This award will be presented as part of the Engaged in Excellence Awards celebration on Monday, May 1, at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center.

The Corners is an outstanding Community Partner because of its close partnership with the Elmbrook Education Foundation (EEF) in support of both fundraising and recognition efforts. This year, The Corners has contributed thousands of dollars to the Foundation, in addition to hosting and promoting EEF fundraising events and rallying support from its businesses. Additionally, The Corners’ support of ‘Thank You Thursdays’ helped celebrate the outstanding work of staff across the District this past winter.

Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin is an outstanding Community Partner for its work with Elmbrook’s LAUNCH program. This year, Froedtert and The Medical College of Wisconsin’s staff members have volunteered hundreds of hours to LAUNCH, serving as mentors (23 individuals) and sponsoring 22 projects in the healthcare strand. Because of its support, students have been given the opportunity to explore career interests and work on real-world healthcare problems and challenges, while building professional skills and relationships.

Congratulations and thank you to The Corners of Brookfield and Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin for your tremendous partnership and amazing service to our students, educators, and community.

On March 8, Brookfield Central Senior and Cadet Colonel, Olga Boukhvalova, was honored with a General Carl A. Spaatz Award. After being nominated earlier in the year by both Senator Ron Johnson and US Representative Jim Sensenbrenner, the award was presented to Boukhvalova by Governor Scott Walker in a private ceremony with Wisconsin Wing Commander Colonel Rose Hunt.

The Spaatz Award is Civil Air Patrol (CAP)'s highest honor, and only five out of one thousand cadets (or 0.5%) that join CAP ever achieve this award during their service as a cadet. The award is given to CAP cadets that pass the necessary exam and meet the appropriate criteria in the categories of leadership, fitness, aerospace, activity participation, and moral character.

Cadet Col. Boukhvalova has been accepted to both the US Air Force and Naval Academies.
