Senior Mckenna Wucherer (BCHS) has shined as an Outside Hitter for her school and now she’ll take her skills to the next level. In August, she was selected to represent USA Volleyball at the FIVB U18 World Championships to be held in Durango, Mexico from September 20-29. For the graduating class of 2022, Wucherer is the #1 recruit in Wisconsin and currently stands at #3 in the nation.
In August 2021, Brookfield Central Senior Cynthia Lu competed virtually in the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) of Wisconsin scholarship program and was named DYW of WI 2022! In an unprecedented accomplishment, Cynthia earned scholarship awards in all five categories of the competition.
Dr. Mark Hansen, Superintendent of the School District of Elmbrook, has been selected as the 2021 Advocate of the Year Award recipient by the Waukesha County Business Alliance (WCBA). Mark has served as Superintendent of Elmbrook Schools since 2012 and during his tenure has helped grow district enrollment, created new partnerships and alliances to control healthcare costs, and added four-year-old kindergarten to provide all children and families with access to high-quality early childhood learning opportunities. Additionally, Mark has been instrumental in developing and implementing the District's LAUNCH program for Juniors and Seniors, connecting students with career-based learning experiences.
Fifty-six new educators participated in a three-day orientation this week in preparation for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. “Our Principals and our Human Resources Team have done an amazing job at recruiting the best talent from across the region,” said Superintendent Mark Hansen. “The onboarding and orientation process is second to none and is the right mix of inspiration, relationship building, and workforce preparedness."
The District's total student enrollment of 7,700 continues to climb, nearing projections and already exceeding last year's enrollment by over 400 students. In the first two weeks of August alone, the District has welcomed 74 students and their families as residents move into the Elmbrook Community and complete their enrollments. Including 4-year-old and 5-year-old Kindergarten students, as well as move-ins, the District will have over 1,300 new students this year. The District's current resident enrollment totals are the highest in the 21st century, and were last seen in 1981.
The School District of Elmbrook’s Board of Education confirmed the Administration’s recommendation of Amy Benotch as Associate Principal of Brookfield Elementary School at its regular board meeting on Tuesday, August 10.
The Teaching and Learning Board Committee Meeting originally scheduled from 3-5:30pm on August 11 at our District Office has been postponed due to a power outage at several of our schools and the District Office.
The new time and location for the meeting will be Thursday, August 12 (3-5:30pm) at Brookfield Central High School.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and especially during the 2020-21 school year, Elmbrook has been a leader in our region for our health and safety protocols, choices offered to families, community engagement, human and financial resource flexibility, and transparent reporting. All of these efforts resulted in an amazing in-person and virtual education learning experience for our 7,500 students this past year.

On Saturday, June 26, the Brookfield East Boys Tennis Team finished off a perfect 21-0 season by sweeping Marquette (7-0) and bringing home the Division 1 gold from the WIAA State Championship in Eau Claire! The weekend before, East Juniors Henry Irwin and Reed Scullen took the gold as the Division 1 Doubles State Champions!
On Thursday, July 8, Brookfield East student and Girl Scout Isabel Zuniga-Meyer received a National Lifesaving Medal of Honor Award from the Girl Scouts of America (GSUSA).

2001 Lancer graduate Yousuf Syed Khan has travelled the world in his academic and career pursuits, and is currently serving the United Nations as a Human Rights Lawyer.

The School District of Elmbrook's Board of Education confirmed the Administration's recommendation of Erin King as Principal of Brookfield Elementary School at its board meeting on Tuesday, June 8. Mrs. King is currently Principal of Forest Park Middle School in Franklin, and replaces Dr. Dan Westfahl.
Throughout the Spring, several Elmbrook students took top spots in Math and Science Competitions. Among them were WHMS students, Kartik Ramachandrula and Joshua Wang, who represented Wisconsin in national-level competitions and qualified for Olympiad exams.
On May 19, Brookfield Central Sophomore Aaron Liu was named the 2021 winner of the U.S. Speedskating Athlete Advisory Council (AAC) Dedication To Sport Award! Aaron accepted his award virtually in front of the U.S. Speedskating Congress, and received the award on behalf of his efforts to build the Elmbrook Speedskating Club which is currently the only school district speedskating club in the United States.
On May 8, a team of Wisconsin Hills Middle School students participated in the 2021 Virtual National Science Bowl (NSB) Finals. The team competed against 44 of the top middle schools across the country in a Jeopardy-style Science competition and finished in second place.

On Tuesday, May 25, the Board of Education held a special Citizens' Forum Listening Session at Brookfield Central High School which arose following the regular May 11 Board Meeting. The Forum was focused on the District's proposed Equity Principles that are included in the District Strategy Map Draft for 2020-21, and was held because of the community's interest on the topic.
The Dixon Elementary community donated a total of 1,686 boxes of cereal to those in need in Waukesha County. On April 20, the Dixon PTO set up all of the boxes for a domino race. The idea for the drive came from Dixon student Olivia Petersen and was coordinated by her and the PTO, with mini-competitions among grade levels throughout the drive. The School District of Elmbrook's School Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves. On Tuesday, May 25 the Board will host a Citizens' Forum at Brookfield Central High School from 6pm-7pm. The forum will be recorded and posted on the District website for viewing. Sneha Sil (Brookfield Central) and Rishav Kumar (Brookfield East) were both selected as winners for a $2,500 scholarship from the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Sil and Kumar are two of 2,500 Merit Scholar designees that were chosen from a talent pool of some 16,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Sneha's post-secondary opportunities will focus on Biochemistry and Rishav's focus will be in Business Administration.
On May 7, Brookfield Central Seniors Logan Schauer and Daniel Wieter took home the silver in the 2021 Technicians of Tomorrow (ADAMM) Automotive Competition Finals! Logan and Daniel competed against five other teams from Southeastern Wisconsin in a hands-on performance held at the Greater Milwaukee International Car & Truck Show at State Fair Pair. Additionally, their instructor Mr. Barry Ritchey (Applied Technology, BCHS) took first place in the Instructor Competition at the event!
