National Civics Essay Winner!

Pilgrim Park Middle Schooler, Kelsey Raddemann, current 7th grader, wrote an essay about the First Amendment of the US Constitution and the impact it has on all Americans.  She took first place with this essay nationally.  The National Center for State Courts organizes the annual contest with the American Bar Association creating the theme based on their Law Day.  This year the theme was "Toward a More Perfect Union:  The Constitution in Times of Change".

Middle school and high school students were asked which of the amendments they believe made the biggest impact on people's lives.  Students from 49 states, the District of Columbia and 19 countries from about the world entered this contest.  Of all the entries received, Kelsey won the middle school division.

We are very proud of Kelsey!  Way to go!!
