2018 Rube Goldberg competition winners

The 18th Annual Pilgrim Park Middle School Rube Goldberg Machine Building Competition was held on March 21, and celebrated the creative engineering talents of 16 teams. Rube Goldberg machines are designed to find creative, innovative and roundabout ways to complete ordinary tasks.

This year's theme of "Celebrating the Olympics" inspired machines designed around themes and elements in the Olympics games. Each team is given roughly two weeks to create a machine which is put to the test as they are given five minutes to complete two successful runs and present their narratives, following a series of questions from the judges.

This year, Team #7's Rube GOLDberg Olympics machine was crowned the champion of the competition. Second place was given to team #9's The Gold M.A.M.A. machine, and third place went to team #15's The Olympic Fair machine. Awards were also given to Wild Card machines based on their complexity.

Congratulations to all participating students!
