• Katherine Applegate - Best-selling and Newbery Award-winning author Katherine Applegate visited Brookfield East on Wednesday, May 15 to speak to 400 students, families, and staff from Elmbrook and surrounding communities. Her visit was in promotion of her new young adult novel The One and Only Family which concludes her One and Only Ivan series. S
• Author / Illustrator Loren Long - the New York Times Best-Selling author visited Brookfield Elementary to talk about his new picture book The Yellow Bus, and was attended by our GO Riteway bus drivers!
• Author / Data Expert Cole Nussbaumer Knaflic - visited Burleigh Elementary to speak to 170 third graders. Her visit was in promotion of her new children’s book Daphne Draws Data, and included a graph-drawing activity with high school students from Elmbrook’s LAUNCH Future Teachers strand. Cole’s book uses fun, colorful adventures with Daphne the Dragon to show young learners how data can be visualized to solve problems.
• Authors Marissa Meyer and Joanne Levy - Marissa is the author of the best-selling series, Lunar Chronicles, and Joanne Levy has won multiple Cooperative Children's Book Center awards for her writing.
• Authors Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin - Sepetys is a #1 New York Times bestselling author of historical fiction whose books have been published in over sixty countries and forty languages.
