Candace reads to the students

Children's book author and illustrator duo Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann visited Swanson Elementary on February 27. Fleming and Rohmann spoke to over 400 students in third through fifth grade about their latest collaboration, Strongheart: Wonder Dog of the Silver Screen, and the time and research that went into making the book.

Strongheart is a middle-grade historical fiction novel that follows the true events of a canine film star in the 1920s told through words and illustrations. Fleming is the renowned author of numerous children's fiction and non-fiction books including The Family Romanov, and Eric Rohmann is the author/illustrator of a number of children's picture books, including the Caldecott Medal-winning children's book, My Friend Rabbit.

Fleming visited on the release day of her newest book The Amazing Collection of Joey Cornell. The duo has previously collaborated on the books Bulldozer's Big Day, Bulldozer Helps Out, and Oh, No!. This event is sponsored by Elmbrook Schools' outstanding community partner, Boswell Book Company.
