Early College Credit Program

Overview

The Early College Credit Program (ECCP) allows a student in grades 9 - 12 to apply to enroll in a UW System institution, or a private, nonprofit institution of higher education (IHE), to take one or more nonsectarian courses, for which the student may earn post-secondary credit, or both high school and post-secondary credit
A student can participate during fall, spring, and/or summer
If participating in ECCP, can not participate in Start College Now (technical college) at same time
Students can attain up to 18 college credits through ECCP
District does not pay for a “comparable” course offered or if it doesn’t meet a graduation requirement
Application deadline dates: March 1 (for summer/fall semester) and Oct. 1 (for spring semester)
Costs of courses are paid by the School District of Elmbrook (as well as the institution and the state of Wisconsin).
If student fails the course or withdraws/drops, District requires the student/family to pay.
Transportation: responsibility of student / parent

The course request deadline for Spring 2026 was October 1st. Forms are now closed. New forms to make requests for Summer and Fall 2025 will be released in January and will be due by March 1st.

The parent or guardian of a pupil who is attending an institution of higher education under the ECCP and is taking a course for high school credit may apply to the state superintendent for reimbursement of the cost of transporting the pupil between the high school in which the pupil is enrolled and the institution of higher education that the pupil is attending if the pupil and the pupil's parent or guardian are unable to pay the cost of such transportation. The state superintendent shall determine the reimbursement amount. The state superintendent shall give preference to those pupils who satisfy the income eligibility criteria for a free or reduced-price lunch.

Textbook Reimbursement

Students should review the "Textbook Information" section of the Elmbrook ECCP/SCN Resource Guide prior to purchasing a textbook. If a student is required to purchase a textbook (online or hard copy), a request for reimbursement can be submitted.

Reimbursement claims for fall courses must be made by December 23rd. Reimbursement will be received during the second week of January. Claims for spring courses must be made by June 1st, to be received mid-June. Claims for summer courses must be made by September 1st, to be received in mid-September.

After School Board Approval Process

Students will be notified via email when the School Board has reviewed and approved their course request(s) before March 20th for Fall/Summer courses or October 25th for Spring courses.

Courses are not approved because:

We offer a comparable course on the Elmbrook campus.
You may not meet a pre-requisite for the course. For example, a student requested a graduate-level course.
