NEW! Tiger Time!  We gathered together yesterday, Thursday, April 11, for our weekly Tiger Time. We introduced a new focus for some upcoming weeks: problem solving. We defined this as finding solutions to difficult problems. Mrs. Gray shared with us the important STEPs in problem solving. S(say the problem) T(think of solutions) E(explore consequences) P(pick a solution). Our Tiger Time each week is a great way to start our Thursdays as a whole school community.

Exciting news! Elmbrook has been selected as one of three districts in Wisconsin to host Newbery Medal-winning author Katherine Applegate! She won the Newbery Medal for her children's novel, The One and Only Ivan. This book, along with her book, Crenshaw, have been all-elementary district read titles in recent years. We are big fans of her brilliant writing, and we are over the moon to have the opportunity to hear her speak in person about the final book in the Ivan quartet, The One and Only Family. Ivan shares his insights on the miracle of family through the one and only Katherine Applegate's simply beautiful prose. You will cherish Ivan's perspective as he reflects on life through the eyes of a new daddy dedicated to protecting, preparing, and loving his family. This is an Elmbrook Schools/Boswell Book Company Event that has limited capacity. Register ASAP here. Scheduled for Wednesday, May 15th, 6:30 p.m. The event is best suited for grades 2 and up.

Your child is welcome to bring in a pencil or other small token item to share with their classmates, or donate a book or game to their classroom in honor of their birthday, or you may join your child for lunch at school on their special day, but we will NOT allow food birthday treats.  Thank you for your cooperation!

We love our family/parent/grandparent volunteers!  In hopes that we will be able to welcome you all back in to help out this upcoming school year, we wanted to share the process for becoming a volunteer in our schools.  Please see https://www.elmbrookschools.org/departments/human-resources/how-to-volunteer-in-elmbrook for all the information including completing our district's volunteer background check process.  You will need to renew this process every two years.  It is a great idea to get this task done over the summer as there is an approximate two week processing time before you are able to volunteer in our school. Thank you!

Change of Plans for After-School Dismissal.  Please notify us of any change in your child(ren)'s after school dismissal plans.  Please send an email to your child's teacher and copy our administrative assistant Mrs. Michelle Kiese at kiesem@elmbrookschools.org as early as you can in the morning, but for certain before noon.  After 12 noon, we cannot guarantee that your child's teacher will get the email as they are busy teaching and working with our students, and likely not checking email. If plans change after 12 noon, please call the MAIN SCHOOL OFFICE at 262-785-3950 to talk to Mrs. Michelle Kiese about the plans. Thank you for your assistance in keeping consistent plans for your child(ren) and for communicating with us when the plans need to change.

Monthly attendance email will be sent for your child(ren). Email communication sample:  The School District of Elmbrook is committed to student achievement and every school day counts. Regular school attendance promotes continuity of the learning process and academic success of every student. Frequent absences deny students the benefit of planned classroom instruction, participation, hands-on or active learning, and can rarely be regained despite extra instruction or support. Every month, we will update families on their child's attendance in an effort to work collaboratively to ensure regular attendance for all Elmbrook students.  Then specific attendance information will be shared regarding your child.  Wisconsin law allows for families to excuse their children from school up to 10 days per school year.

Medically Excused Absences: Families may submit verification of medical appointments and/or illness from a medical provider to the school attendance office in order to be reflected in their child(ren)'s attendance.  With these verification documents, the documented absences will not be included as a part of the up to ten allowed days of absences per school year.

Student Attendance Matters! Accurate student attendance is important to us. If your child(ren) will be absent from school, please email our attendance office at TonAttendance@elmbrookschools.org and your child(ren)'s teacher(s) OR call our main phone line 262-785-3950 and select option 1. Please indicate the reason for their absence. Please try to do this before the start of the school day or at least by 8:50 AM.

Vacation Request Form linked herePlease complete this form for trips when your child(ren) will miss 3 or more school days due to the vacation. Please complete this form with as much advance notice as possible. Thank you!
